So I finally found the rest of our camera equipment. It was in a laptop bag shoved in the back of our entertainment center. Naturally.
And, I have pictures of the children decorating the Christmas tree. Since we are leaving on a trip the middle of this month, we put our tree up early (early for us, anyway) and proceeded to smash at least four ornaments in the first 20 minutes. We’ve gone through another three since then, for a total of seven casualties, but oh well.
Maya wore the Santa hat, along with an evil grin, without much complaint. You can see by the end that it didn’t last, but she at least posed for some pictures. She’s a total ham.
Ben was more sedate, as becomes a mature man of five years, and we had to keep him from obsessing over the placement of the decorations. Can we say, related to his uncle Nick? (And I don’t mean ol’ Saint Nick)
I like this picture of Ben — he looks sooo much like Marti’s side of the family in this shot. For those doubters out there, anyway…
Here’s the finished product. Marti especially liked the bead strings along the bottom, orchestrated by Maya and Ben. I also okayed the use of tinsel…which I am already sweeping off the floor, picking off my shoes and clothes, etc. It may be the last year I agree to this!
So, the tree is up, most of our gifts are bought, and Santa is on his way….now to send out Christmas cards! If I get them out by the end of this week, this Christmas will be my timeliest on record! And now to go indulge in some eggnog…
