While sorting through some things to pack or throw away, I came across this card, which I kept, because I love both quotes:

Missionaries, my dear! Don’t you realize that missionaries are the divinely provided food for destitute and underfed cannibals? Whenever they are on the brink of starvation, Heaven in its infinite mercy sends them a nice plump missionary. — Oscar Wilde

To live content with small means,
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion,
to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich,
to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly,
to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart,
to bear all cheerfully,
do all bravely,
await occasion,
hurry never –
In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious,
grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.
–William Ellery Channing

*big sigh* We miss Alane very much. I think that now that I have shared these I can finally toss this card that I have been hoarding now for 5 1/2 years. Alane herself would be horrified; she is a chronically neat person. Nevertheless, I love little nuggets like this. You can just imagine what a disaster this packing bit is, with dozens of “little nuggets” I have to toss.

Every move is a tiny death…
