Horrible…wonderful…horrible. How can I describe it? I relived high school for 89 minutes. The horrible clothes, the horrible food, the wide open spaces, lack of jobs, high school caste system… even down to the student election speech. I did that, I ran for student office and crashed my speech, I sang it. Why did I do that? Sure, I was known for my singing, and sang the national anthem for basketball games, but it was really just insanity on my part. There was no standing ovation for me, only spitwads. But whoever wrote that surely must have gone to my high school (I just checked to make sure - they didn’t go to New Plymouth, but Jared and his wife, Jerusha Hess, might as well have). It was a beautiful — and painful — movie, and I’m glad we’ve all left moon boots behind. Buy a copy of it, if only to support one of few movies to be filmed in Idaho, or better yet — buy a copy for me.
