…and other wild stories
I had to make a separate entry for this, since television has (ahem!) somewhat shortened the average attention-span. (more…)

While I know most of you only browse this sight for pictures of Ben (and I mean you, grandparents), I do occasionally want to pontificate. (more…)
Here are some pictures from our hiking trip last weekend (don’t forget — click on the picture for a larger version). We hiked about 3.5 miles on the Butterfly Trail in Mount Lemmon, according to Marti’s fun new toy, his GPS. We enjoyed some spectacular views, although you can see the burned trees in some pictures. Ben enjoyed himself and even did some hiking on his own, although he mostly rode in the backpack. He also enjoyed throwing rocks over the edge of the trail, giving his parents the occasional heartattack (it was a very steep dropoff, even if the pictures don’t show it!) We were pretty tired when we got back to the car, but Ben wanted to play soccer, so he and Daddy played in the parking lot while I loaded up the car. Unfortunately, Ben fell over the ball and tried to kiss the pavement and sustained some nastly scrapes on his forehead and upper lip. We had a first aid kit there (as opposed to our last hike, when we brought — nothing) and cleaned him up pretty well. Unbelievably, after he stopped crying, he wanted to play soccer again! My son, the jock. Anyway, that time he and daddy sat across from each other and rolled the ball, and this time Ben fell over backward and hurt his elbow. He was still wailing for the soccer ball when we put him in the car.
Marti and I just finished spending 7 + hours in the sun in August in Arizona. We might possibly be insane (this is related to the sun, for those who may have agreed previously). Why? Because I have a terrible problem with clutter. Somehow my house, my two-year-old, and my storage areas collect clutter, seemingly without my knowledge. I have to wonder if the clutter is secretly multiplying in the dark, shady and cool corners of my house. (more…)
