Internet, meet Corey, Ben’s guitar teacher.
He’s a rockstar — note the hair:

Yes, Corey really is an aspiring rock star. He has a band, and he writes his own songs. He is also starting up a pretty cool music education program here in Tucson, called MyTown Music. We pay him a small fortune to teach Ben guitar ($30/half-hour), partly because I’m a sucker for starving musicians and partly because he’s actually a pretty fantastic teacher.
That’s pretty much it; there isn’t a point to this post. No snarky remarks or humorous comments. Just “Missy don’t forget to buy the metronome” and “Music lessons: how I remember most of my childhood (I took piano).” Also, every time I write Corey a check (which hurts, by the way), I think of my own parents, shelling out money for piano lessons for 9 years.
That’s just karma, dude. Did I mention Ben is also learning to play the trumpet? Luckily his teacher is paid for by the school district, or we’d be music-lesson-poor. Also, holy crap, do you know how much a trumpet costs? $600 for a beginner instrument? Seriously? That’s crazy talk.
That’s also just 5 months of lessons with Corey if we went every week. But trumpets don’t have cute rockstar hair.
Or teach cool music stuff to my son.
