Hi, I just came across your site and saw that we had a lot in common on the process. Best of luck on your PNQs! Hopefully we'll both be able to go on to the OAs in October!

Very cool! Let me know how the orals go. I will look up the Yahoo groups info, I think I am already a part of the FSWE group but I haven't checked for PNQ stuff so I will. Thanks for the tip!

Congratulations! I'm also in the processing of applying to the Foreign Service (the third stage, preparing for the Oral Assessment). If you haven't done so already, then please considering checking with the Yahoo Forum on the written part of the test. (Search for "fswe" on the Yahoo group list.) When writing my five essays, I joined with a small group. We exchanged essays. The individual comments were very helpful. Your PNQs can also form the basis of your answers (in part) at the OA, so you really want them to be relevant -- and passionate. Best wishes for your success!

YYY, Congratulations on the test! Smile! Smile!
I know how you feel, and I can hardly say which way to choose.
All I can say is you seems to have a habit to underestimate yourself and try to solve every fear and questions before stepping forward, which leads to dissatisfactionary life,I might say. This time life is gonna go to the entirely different way. At the age over 50 when you turn back and look back your life,
where and how your family life would be? God knows.
But I believe in you. Hope Yoron kennpo makes clear up your mind.

Oh no, it's great to hear things like that. I really enjoyed traveling as an adult, but I know it can sometimes be hard for kids (so I hear!) so I worry. I know that Andy doesn't seem to be bothered by travel, and I'm glad to hear you benefited as well.

Congrats on the test! Pretty exciting.
I can say from experience that the chance to see a lot of new places as a kid can be a good thing. I didn't like moving when I was young; but now, I'm amazed when I meet adults who've never been anywhere except their own little town, and maybe their one vacation spot ... In a lot of ways, they've missed out, by never having realized that other cultures exist, even within the same country. Not to downplay anything you said, just to add a word of encouragement in case things work out ...
