My son was born with an incomplete unilateral cleft on the left side as well, and is having surgery this Thursday. He's 5 months old. He also had hydronephrosis in his left kidney which turned out to be a blockage in his ureter. He had surgery to repair it when he was 2 months old and had a stent in his urter for a motnh, but now everything is looking very good. I found out about the cleft and the kidney at my 26 wk ultrasound and they too were throwing around all these other things, it really scared the hell out of me! After much consideration (mostly because I was chicken) I decided to do the amnio to rule out DS and other chromosonal abnormalities. I wasn't really worried at all abotu him having DS, but boy was I happy to hear the results 6 weeks later. Anyhow. When I was pregant I was concerned with how I would see the cleft, but the minute he was born it was almost like it wasn't even there. He is just the cutest thing, and a little smarty pants too! Now that he is having surgery this week I almost feel like I am going to miss it. He's got such an amazing smile!
