Me: “The turtles are sleeping.”
Ben: “Can I see the wild cats?”
Daddy: “Sure.”
Ben: “Daddy’s girlfriend has lots of movies.”
Daddy and Me: “What?!?”

Apparently, “daddy’s girlfriend” is right up there with Randy, the Astronaut of Color, as a member of Ben’s “extended” family…
The real question is whether to bribe with sweets or interrogate like the Gestapo. And Marti, nobody buys this…but nice try.
This morning, I shared this conversation with the guys at work, and the first question everyone had was “So how do you know he was talking about you?”

[...] As Missy mentioned yesterday, Ben very casually dropped a bombshell as we were walking along through the desert museum — he cheerfully informed us that “Daddy’s girlfriend has lots of movies,” then declined to talk about the matter further. Needless to say, we were both bewildered, and aghast. Today he let some more details slip — she works at my office, and once let him watch a movie with a girl and a white horse. That arguably narrows it down a bit, but still isn’t ringing any bells with anyone but Ben. I guess I’ll have to do some investigative work tomorrow to find out who’s been slipping my kid movies on the sly… [...]
