Foot odor bank?

The Chinese have started an body odor bank to help dogs track criminals. The Chinese “did not explain how the smells would be captured and stored,” leaving one to wonder at retrieval methods. How exactly does an odor bank help, I wonder? And who is the poor scientist that has to collect body odors?

Blogging

You know, one of the great things about blogging, and about journaling in general, is that it helps you to look back and see what you were thinking a few years, months or even weeks ago. I have kept a journal since I was 10 years old — a “gift” set, which was a purple journal with white flowers, complete with a matching box and a tiny silver key (I earned it by selling cards and trinkets to my neighbors — I was an awesome salesman as a kid, probably why I refuse to sell anything now. I sold almost as many boxes of Girl Scout cookies going door-to-door on foot as my friends did whose parents drove them). Anyway, I started that journal much as I started my blog, by which I mean that I really had no idea what I wanted to say. By the time I finished it I was pouring my heart out — not realizing that my lock was pretty much useless until I started seeing smug grins from my parents (I had a crush on their best friend’s son, who was 5 years older than me. At 12 that was an unbelievable chasm). more »

Lists

What I ate last night after I got home from work (at 8 p.m.):

1 triple cheeseburger from Wendy’s, with 3 patties, 1 slice of cheese and everything on it, extra pickles.

1/5 of a jar of dill pickles.

1 small frosty.

1 chicken nugget.

2 servings of Cream of Wheat with whole milk and brown sugar.

(I could be pregnant.)

What Ben packed in his suitcase this morning:

5 DVDs
4 books
2 toys

With prompting, he also packed:
3 pair pajamas, 1 pair socks, 2 pair undies, 2 pair pants and 4 shirts.

Then he declared the suitcase “full,” despite my protests.

Clearly, at age 4, clean socks and underwear are not a priority, and Mr. Incredible and Bob the Builder are.
