Late Portland pics

These are from the trip I took last month, to Portland. Pictured are Asia, oldest daughter of Steve and Sheleen, and then Lily, their youngest (there are only two!). Next is Steve and Sheleen and the girls, in their “We are a missionary family” pose. Steve really isn’t trying to choke Lily, I promise. Next is a picture of myself, Sheleen, and Christina — we’ve been friends now for 10 years, so I guess we’re called old friends. Last is a picture of Steve posing, and he made some very un-Missionary comments when I asked to take his picture. There are dozens more adorable pics of the girls, and also of Chloe, Christina’s daughter, who isn’t pictured (yet). I will get the others up as soon as I can, I promise!

Long-awaited Firestation pics

fireman in gear they called me stash look mama, a firehose! big tire! rushing to get in first in the cab Conner
These are pictures from a tour we took of a firestation the beginning of August with Tucsonmoms.com , a mother’s group here. Ben is resplendent with his band-aid mustache, which he got on our hiking trip (see August archives), and which earned him the nickname “stash” by the firemen. Ben was thrilled with the axes and firehose, and enjoyed touching the tire (which was bigger than he was) and was first to rush up and sit in the cab. The other boy in the cab is Conner, and you can see him pictured with Gigi, his mom. Conner and Gigi are recent friends here, and we introduced them to Tucsonmoms.com. Ben found the entire trip very satisfying, and they firemen did a great job. They even turned the siren on for us. Our trip was completed by the firemen getting called out, and all the kids got to watch the firetruck “in action.” A great field trip.

Talking to the Universe

I recently had a very Zen moment, wherein I decided that I would stop trying to figure out what to do with my life and just live it for awhile. It sounds rather simplistic, but actually I’ve been happier the past few weeks than I’ve been for a long time, having taken some pressure off of myself. Of course, the irony is that now job offers and possibilities are presenting themselves to me in large quantities. more »
