…and other wild stories

I had to make a separate entry for this, since television has (ahem!) somewhat shortened the average attention-span. I am almost ashamed to admit it, still, but I have discovered a real interest in comic books and teen fantasy (interesting, coming after the law school post, eh?). After four years of James Joyce and literary theory in college, I found myself at Bookmans last week, sorting through the Marvel comic section — next to an 11-year-old (interestingly enough, I bought enough young adult material they gave me a “kids card” to encourage “young people to read” and now I get 10% off). While you may scoff, in my defense I have to say that I read Shakespeare when I was twelve (why do they talk funny, mommy?), so where would I have had the time for Spiderman? I also just finished a nice piece of fanfiction about Severus Snape (a character from Harry Potter, for those who are less in tune with juvenile fiction). And so I’ve decided to try my own hand at young adult fiction, and am outlining a trilogy (why trilogies? why not quadrilogies? It just sounds nicer) that I personally think is quite original (it’s about a young American wizard who is orphaned as a baby…just kidding). And, in a saga of my own, I’m preparing for 4 weeks of travelling on the road with a two-year-old — pictures and spaghetti-O stains to follow. So watch this site, and don’t forget to vote for whatever career path you think I should take!
